Aluminum Extrusion
An amazing metal, aluminum is one-third the weight of steel, won't burn, is not magnetic, has a high inherent resistance to corrosion, and gets stronger as it gets colder. Of the common metals, on a weight basis, aluminum is the most efficient thermal conductor. High purity aluminum is soft and ductile. Its strength and hardness are acquired by the addition of alloying elements like silicon, magnesium, manganese and copper.
Extrusions are highly desirable in commercial applications because they are strong, resilient, heat and electrically conductive, nontoxic, reflective, non-sparking and non-magnetic. The extrusion process has been compared to squeezing toothpaste from a tube where the paste takes the shape of the tube opening.
Our tooling engineers know the extrusion process from start to finish, and they know the capabilities of our equipment and our quality team. With that knowledge they can tool your profiles to the specific tolerances you have requested. And we understand deadlines, too, and with two presses, we can adjust production schedules to meet your delivery demands or even run multiple jobs at the same time. We operate:
- Press One is 6” in diameter and 1250 tons of press force
- Press Two is 8” in diameter and 1800 tons of press force
By utilizing both extrusion presses, our monthly production capacity exceeds 800 metric tons.
Equipment and Support
Our equipment is among the newest and most advanced in the industry, allowing us to run “hands free” (untouched) throughout the process, right up to packaging for shipment. This automation significantly reduces required labor - which lowers your costs. One of the biggest scrap and reject factors in aluminum extrusion is "handling damage." With our state-of-the-art line, these problems are virtually eliminated.
We are committed to improving quality and lowering costs. That’s what attracts customers to ABC Aluminum… and keeps them coming back.
